Michael Wheatley has been working under the live name of Dirty Carpet Disco Band since 2007. The first gig was played at the Royal Hotel Bondi and that was where the name was born. The members were Calvin Welch on drums, Grant Fitzpatrick on bass, Patrick Carr on guitar and Michael Wheatley on keys and vocals. The band played a gutsy 3 set gig with a packed dancefloor and so was born Dirty Carpet Disco Band. Since then the band has played all sorts of rooms from chilled cocktail atmospheres to power pop soul. Now after many moons, gigs and recording sessions Dirty Carpet Disco Band is more often than not a 3 piece with Josh Wermut on bass, Ben Isackson on drums and Michael on vocals and keys. The trio plays a variety of "vibes" with the essence is always based in rootsy funk and minimal soul. Though there have been a lot of recording sessions at various studios, until now, nothing has been released.
