Marilane brings to Australia a fresh, genuine and soulful interpretation of Brazilian music. Her approach to Latin-jazz standards, Portuguese fados and ballads is different, heartfelt, bright and unique.

This album showcases her talents as a lyricist/vocalist/producer and her unique musical approach on eight tracks of original material including scores by American composer/recording artist Harold Blanchard, pianist/composer Mark Balfour and acoustic guitarist Jorge Pereira from Mozambique.

The album also includes an English version of Ivan Lins' Brazilian jazz classic 'Começar de Novo' based on the original Portuguese lyrics of Vitor Martins, also known as 'The Island'. Marilane was joined by Sydney's best jazz musicians who share her love of Brazilian music in the album. Marilane's love for fine weaving melodies, romantic words and the soulful and exotic rhythms of her native country has found true expression in this release which establishes a new direction for Brazilian based music in Australia.
