The second Bongo Fury album 'Home' was released in 1997, developing the sound of Bongo Fury to embrace the kalimba of Valanga Khosa, the guitar of Ross Hannaford, sax, bass and balafon.

Bongo Fury was formed in 1992 by one of Australia's most acclaimed performing and recording artists, Ray Pereira. Bongo Fury was one of Australia's first percussion bands. The band thrilled audiences all over Australia and overseas with their powerful drumming (conga, djembe, timbales, dun-dun and drum kit), percussion (shekere, cowbells) and vocals, based on Afro-Cuban and West African rhythms.

"As a young boy growing up in Sri Lanka, my friends and I would invade cricket matches, armed with a motley collection of instruments, turning the match into a riotous celebration. On the streets I would hear the traditional rhythms of Sri Lanka, at "PERAHARAS" (Street Processions). Whilst at home I listened to my father’s collection of Harry Belafonte, Miriam Makeba and Country and Western. Years later, my travels around the globe triggered my love affair with Cuban and African music. Today, living in Australia, these diverse musical and cultural traditions are reflected in the music I make with Bongo Fury, which includes four Chileans, a South African and a Jugoslavian Gypsy."
