Glenn Cardier made his critically-acclaimed comeback with the 2002 album, Rattle The Cage. The reclusive singer-songwriter performs his songs and stories of dark humor. Rattle The Cage includes the stark beauty of "She Flew Away", the rockabilly rave-up "Shingaling" and the Berlin cabaret of "Sideshow Alley". In the 70s, Glenn produced three albums of highly original folk/rock songs. He played the first two Sunbury festivals and worked with the likes of Frank Zappa, Spike Milligan and Fairport Convention.
"The one that got it all going again. Initial copies were pressed for friends and family. Not even a bar code. ABC Darwin started playing the hell out of it and things went from there. The ABC contacted me and said that they’d had numerous enquiries, even from local record stores. Mostly, it was 'who is this guy?' They recommended I get some stock up there fast. I remember trying out some of the songs at open mike nights at the Excelsior, Surrey Hills, just to see if I could do it again. It was a bit like being reacquainted with an old friend. I started getting invited to play solo at festivals and suchlike." Glenn Cardier
'Glenn Cardier has been writing and performing moving, insightful, powerful and important songs for more than thirty years. His intriguing evolution has given us something like a cross between John Prine and John Lee Hooker. With captivating presence, a commanding vocal style and a gloriously perverse point of view that produces songs which take firm hold and linger long, he comes dangerously close to being certified as a national treasure.'
