The Rogue Gene is a band producing a variety of musical styles and genres. 2011/12 will see The Rogue Gene release a series of albums and singles engaging some of Australia’s finest talent. Soul Food at Johnnie Lee Fongs features the towering vocals of Belle Hendrik (Soul Kitchen & the Honey Bees). Belle also plays all the bass parts on this album and co-writes some of the songs. The album is a bluesy, soulful collection of tunes with pop overtones bringing together a talented group of musicians including: Hugh Milan (lead and rhythm guitars, song writing and harmonies) who also produced and arranged the album. From Sydney, John Hill made the journey north to play piano and organ, while some of the tracks feature keyboard and organ parts from musician Alan Park (Cliff Richard), Drums played by Lenny Reilly formally of Bourbon Street with Andy Thompson who is special guest on Saxophone (Moving Pictures, Dire Straits) and Dee Lavell adds to the lush harmonies. Recorded at Rockinghorse studios in Coorabell, Northern NSW Hinterland, with Aria award winning engineer Anthony Lycenko (Pete Murray) and Nicholas Wilson, this is the second release for The Rogue Gene who have created an album of melodic blues and Soul. Soul Food at Johnnie Lee Fongs is a stunning collection of tunes with well crafted song writing and soulful, gospel inspired grooves.
